Examples of Design Briefs

1. Sam’s Sweet Chilli Sauce Co. need a re-brand for their range of bottled sauces to be sold in supermarkets. Initially, the branding needs to be applied across three versions: sweet & mild, medium and super spicy. Think about the colour palette and typography and how the packaging can stand out against its competitors on a shelf. Design the labels as flat images and then visualise what they would look like on 295ml glass bottles.

2. Every year the RIO carnival in Brazil is held for over 100,000 visitors! The carnival has been running every year since 1723 and is one of the most visited carnivals by tourists in the world. For this brief we want you to create a totally awesome eye catching A0 poster that can visually represent what the carnival is about and highlight some of the key events happening in the next event. Take inspiration form Brazilian culture and create something outstanding that people will love!!!

3. An outdoor activity centre based in the Peak District called OUT would like a main logo and set of icons to use across their brand. OUT appeal to all ages but get a lot of interest from secondary schools for day trips out to encourage team-building. OUT also cater for hen/stag parties, amateur climbers and for those with a little more experience. The icons will be used on their website, to help quickly distinguish between different activities they run. There are 6 main activities: mountaineering, canoeing, rock-climbing, abseiling, caving and team building, and OUT need a simple icon for each exercise. They would also like a similar approach to their main logo which needs to be professional and encompass their overall love for adventure.

4. Alison Bow needs a visual identity for her painting & decorating business. She is looking for a bold, playful and contemporary design which is needed primarily for business cards to hand out to potential clients. She is interested in strong use of colour, geometry and pattern within her work and would like to reflect these elements in her identity. Design 5 different variations to the front of the business card with this in mind. The reverse side should read “Alison Bow – Painting & Decorating” with her contact information: hello@alisonbow.co.uk, mobile number 07735263301 and the strap line “Adding another dimension to create the perfect home.” The dimensions are 3.5 x 2 inches.

here is a website that has examples of design briefs for logos, illustration, print design,
website design, iconography.
